When I sorted through my collection of photos and postcards last week, I came across a picture of a woman in a garden. I hadn’t planned to make a collage at this time, but the image inspired me to create one right away.

I imagine the lady's name was Blanche and she was a teacher. Poor Blanche doesn’t look very happy, does she? Maybe she was paying a duty call to aunt Ada who happened to be her least favorite relative.
In her spare time, Blanche enjoyed meeting with her friends to play cards, domino or lotto which was later called bingo. She loved to be outdoors and always picked up some flowers to dry between the pages of an heavy old book. The coin purse had been a gift from her mother on her 10th birthday.

I used encaustic wax on most of the papers and also to adhere the laces and some other details. An old book cover served as background.
Have a happy weekend!

Liebste Julia, this is amazing!!!!
You created a most wonderful story and collage. I love all the materials you have used, so many beautiful items have found a place on it, and all makes your story so "true" and lovely. A great idea, to use the whole cover, and so fantastic with the feather and sign on the bag . I love your collage, my dear.
I hope you are all well and that the future also for Helmuth looks better and better for each day !!
I send you loving thoughts and warm hugs my friend.

Oh the loveliness of it all! What a beautiful story and your collage is like a journey through time splashed with the reality and elegance of days gone by.. I think Blanch would be so honored. Thank you for the inspiration.

So pretty! I think Blanche looks proud and satisfied, not unhappy, but that's just me! :)
Very pretty, Julia!
Dearest Julia
What a beautiful story collage of Blanche. All the things of meaning to her are represented and arranged so thoughtfully by you here on this lovely vintage book cover - a perfect background for such a charming old photo.
Hope you are going well dear friend and that Helmut is slowly returning to his old former self.
Sending love and warm hugs from here,
Suzy
This is art that brings about feeling, emotion, fondness of days gone by. It is just magnificent nostalgia .
Lovely!! Blanche looks like someone's great aunt. Isn't it wonderful how something can inspire a whole project?
beautiful...Aren't you glad we don't have to dress like that anymore to garden!? To hot for the Texas heat here!
This is so pretty and I love your sweet story that goes along with it. Thanks for sharing your latest creation at Vintage Inspiration Party.
I love the creativity in this collage! Very charming!

Loving your creative mind. Blanche would be very happy with the story you have put together for her. It is wonderful to find such great treasures.
You did an incredible job with the collage.

Hello Julia
What a brilliant composition this piece is! I just love the unique way you composed it. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement on my blog. It really means a lot to me. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Nancy
