August 26, 2013

The day temperatures are still about 86F/30C over here but the early morning air has that autumnal feeling already, that I love so much. It makes me wanna cuddle up on the couch with a quilt, hot chocolate, some homemade cookies and a book or something to crochet. It’s still too warm for that of course but it’s not too warm to create some autumnal decorations like a fabric mushroom collage.

Fabric Collage - Mushroom

Thank you to Karen, The Graphics Fairy, for the vintage mushroom image!

Fabric Collage - Mushroom

Fabric Collage - Mushroom

No fall is complete without pumpkins, isn’t it? This is one of several I sewed lately. I’m so in love with old rusty bed springs. They are just great to display all kinds of things.

Fall Decoration - Fabric Pumpkin

I’m busy working on more fall creations and Halloween is on my mind already as well. The only thing I made for Halloween last year was this collage.  For this season I plan to create all kinds of decorations. If you like a black and white Halloween, check out my PINS.

Have a wonderful week!

Great minds, Julia, I've been making pumpkins too, all started because of a swap I'm participating in, one item has to be a pumpkin :)

Fall is around the corner!!!! Found a great shop near my sister's yesterday, whoo-hoo, came home with a few rusty hardware items :)

Hi Julia,
Your mushroom is so pretty, I love the creamy lace. the pumpkins are wonderful too.
We have had a few crisp mornings here too but the days are still very warm. I just noticed the leaves on the Silver Birch outside my window have begun to turn to butter yellow, they will be glorious in the Autumn.

Sending you smiles,

Hej Julia,
;oD
Ich wünsch dir eine herrliche Woche!

I wish we had fall or autumn! Our summer lasts so long here in Arizona.

Love your new creations!!!!

I love your mushroom collage and it does remind me of autumn. We're still having warm weather here in the UK so it'll probably be a few weeks till autumn arrives.
Your pumpkin is lovely too and I love your use of the old bed spring to display it on. We don't have such a big pumpkin 'scene' here, if people do have them they tend to be the orange ones, either real or fake. I don't think Halloween is as big here as it is in the USA, but pumpkins like your are great for an autumn decoration. I may have a go at one myself.
Have a lovely week.

Hi Julia,
Oh girl, I just caught up on your posts and I'm blown away by your awesomeness! You see a lot of pumpkins this time of year but yours are absolutely unique and so very Julia:) Is it made from a linen sweater? And your mushrooms are wonderful too. Then I saw your WBC post. In fact Dawn & I were on the phone looking at it together gawking at all the pictures. I thought you were roughing it there in Albania, LOL No internet, no flea markets, Ha ha. Your studio is amazing! So white, bright and vintage. I want to look in every corner and shelf. I may be borrowing some ideas, like the hanging laces, and the beautiful way you display gifts around the world. What a great way to start my day, full of inspiration. Lisa

Hello Sweet Julia
Oh I can feel the Autumn creeping in around you there with that magnificent mushroom collage and such an amazing pumpkin perched so proudly up on that rusty spring. I was thinking a bit like Lisa that pumpkins are all the rage at the moment!!?? Love what yours is made from - is that from a knitted fabric of sweater?
Both creations are so beautiful as is everything you create!
Yes count me in with hot chocolate and bickies whilst creating pumpkins with you!
Sending heaps of hugs,
PS Doing my skype letter hopefully tonight!

Dear Julia

Oh I'm so inspired by your beautiful autumn mushroom collage.
The pleating above the piece of lace echoes the underside of the mushroom - that's so clever.

Gorgeous pumpkins too - I'm sure little Jules would just love to play with these!!!

On my side of the world Spring has arrived but I'll have a go at making these for next autumn decorations!

All so lovely dear Julia
hugs for you and tummy scratches for Jules!

Julia, you're so clever and are truly gifted at bringing different elements together! Love the mushroom collage in it's yummy shades browns and creams. Not a fan of eating them but sure do love their image! And the springs being used as a support for a display... every time I see one in a shop I wrack my brain trying to figure out how I've seen others use them. Nope.. blank! That is until I see a post such as yours!! :-)
