Lovely Garden Finds or Fall Decoration on a Budget

A few weeks ago I picked up several kinds of dried plants in the garden.  I thought they would make a lovely fall decoration and I had the perfect shadow box to display them. I had painted my flea market find in a shabby white last year already but never got around to filling it. The spotted woodpecker feather I took from my stash but the wasp’s nest and the snail shells had been recent garden finds as well.

Total project costs: less than 1. 50 $.

Another pretty but inexpensive fall decoration is this jar filled with dried seed pods. I added a bird image from The Graphics Fairy and a doily that I had fixed with a piece of twine. I can tell that the kittens love my projects – too much, lol. Therefore instead of having them displayed in the living room they are on a dresser in the hall which is too high for them to jump on yet.

What have you picked up outside for your fall decoration?

Happy weekend everyone!

I am going to try my hand at a shadowbox for winter this year. Hope it turns out.

So beautiful, Julia--you've inspired me once again! I picked up two lovely old shadowboxes this last year that I haven't done anything with yet, and this is such a wonderful idea for them!

Wishing you a beautiful day, my friend!

They are absolutely gorgeous, what beautiful finds, and so perfect in the display boxes. I haven't managed to find any such lovely seeds, pods or leaves. I have a vase of hydrangeas, peace roses, and pink sedum out of the garden - the last blooms of summer. jayne x

Julia my sweet friend this shadow box filled with all of natures gifts is so heartwarming to me. We really never have to go far to find such beauty to create with - often it is just outside our back door.
I love the wasp's nest and snails shells.
There are so many seed pods and seed heads if we only look around us.
You have displayed them so beautifully in your painted shadow box.
I have been collecting a stash of similar items over the past two weeks for a project too.
Love the jar filled with those gorgeous pods too. What are these from?
Sending you lots of sunshine love and hugs from here dear friend,

I love the shadow box filled with treasures! So sweetly done! And as always, a Graphics Fairy label makes anything look finished. As of yet, there really hasn't been anything fall-ish around here. Except for needing the heater turned on in the morning to take the chill off and then the AC unit turned on in the afternoon as it is now too warm!!! By the way, I have your blog listed on my blog sidebar and thought I had already signed up to "follow" you. I see that I didn't. Oops! I am now your newest follower!!
