Back With a Bottle and a Hat

Hello, my dear friends! I’m finally back from my moving break. Thank you for your well wishes! Not all went really smooth but my treasures arrived safely. Careful packaging with lots of bubble wrap and tissue paper pays off, especially when you have to unload during pouring rain and a lot of  boxes get soaked and break through. In the meanwhile everything is in place but I can’t say that I’m adjusting very well. Our new location is Albania and a lot of things are quite different here. I’ve  almost got used to the power outages and some other inconveniences.  What bothers me much more is that there are no flea markets and only just a few stores that have a couple of vintage or antique things for sale. I tell you, I’m on VERY serious withdrawal and my poor dear hubby has to deal with the symptoms like bad mood and outbursts of frustration. Well, enough of the issues that are no fun. On the positive side is my new studio that I love very much. I’ll be participating in Karen’s

Where Bloggers Create Blog Party

and will show you around on July 14. Click on the link above or on the button on my right sidebar to get more details. Maybe you like to party too and show your creative space.

I’ve been working on a couple of things lately, mostly finishing some projects I had started last year, like this bottle. It had been soldered and and the waxed lace had been attached already but it needed to be embellished. Here is the finished bottle now.

Margaret Detail

I like to wear caps and hats and so I appreciated a promotion at the grocery store, when they gave a free straw hat with every 5 cans of beer. The ugly lime green and orange hat band with the imprinted company logo didn’t keep me from taking the chance. The minute I got home,  I ripped it off and replaced it with a strip of white linen and a lace flower. Much better.

 Hat Flower1

That would be it for today but I promise to be back soon. Thank you for stopping by and have a very lovely week!

So happy to see you!!! Beautiful altered bottle! I love making them.

Ohhhh I see some numbered drawers in the background, can't wait to see your studio!

I need a hat for when I go junkin and I need to remember to bring some gloves, need to just toss them in my car and leave them there.

Oh, Julia, I can't imagine not being able to go junkin . . . . . just making sure, did you get my reply? No need to answer, just wanted to make sure it went through.

Much love and hugs,

Dear Julia
I am glad you arrived safely (and also all your treasures). Oh my goodness, Albania, what a shock to the system! Many years ago I spent time in the company of Albanians (and also Serbians) but that is a long story from a lifetime ago LOL. I have only visited Croatia which is a beautiful country but not sure if Albania has the same landscape.
Your bottle is incredible and we can safely say that your creativity has not diminished with the move and the hat, I would happily wear that hat it is stunning.
Stay safe.

YAY !!!! I have missed you, I am so glad you are back in blogland now. I can so understand your frustration, I think I would go nuts if I couldn't go to boot fairs or vide greniers, or charity shops even. I hope you still have a few good supplies to keep you going. I am so excited about seeing your new studio, I just know its going to be spectacular. The altered bottle is fabulous, you sure haven't lost your touch. xx

Ganz toll finde ich auch Deine Altered Bottle mit dem hübschen Anhänger. Hab noch eine schöne Woche und melde Dich bald wieder, okay?

Dearest Julia, I can already now see, that your new room is so pretty- and I`m happy for you, that you at last can create again- and feel good in that wonderful place of yours!
Your bottle is gorgeous liebe freund, looking so fantastic with the waxed laces, and the beautiful soldered charm- and I would love to go for a walk sharing your new lovely hat with you :-)
Sweetie ,I totally agree about what you wrote me about the postage - that would be so terribly if something got missing! so we will leave it to totally flat envelopes.
You will soon hear from me my sweet dear Julia-just wanted to say this, until I write you properly!
Love to you with warm hugs-
Your Dorthe

Hi Julia, I'm sure once you get your bearings, you will be able to find lots of shopping opportunities. Albania must be steeped in history. It was voted one of the top 10 places to visit by Lonely Planet last year. A new culture always takes getting used to, especially when you have to find alternatives to what you are used to. Once acclimated, no doubt it will be wonderful. Wishing you all the best. You are lucky to have your hobby to help you with all the changes. Take care. Tammy
