By The Sea

Every time we take a walk on our beach here, I think about my dear friend Dorthe over at Den Lille Lade. When the weather is gorgeous like today, we can see a tiny bit of Denmark and then Dorthe seems to be just a few miles away. If I would be a fish in a good physical shape, I could swim right over to her house on the Danish island of Bornholm. Well, I’m not a fish and we don’t want to get into my fitness level here, LOL, but that means a trip to Dorthe would involve a couple of hours drive by car and a 3 1/2 hour ferry ride. We haven’t managed to meet each other yet but maybe one day we will.

As Dorthe loves the beach very much, I thought I would make something with a sea theme for her birthday. I created a collage on the back of a canvas, using a lovely picture of two ladies that Dawn over at The Feathered Nest had provided a while ago.

I altered this tin for Dorthe to store some of her beach finds. The sea shell frame is a pretty graphic from Karen, the lovely Graphics Fairy.

Some weeks ago, when I had showed a pincushion I had made, Dorthe said that she likes the fabric I had used. Therefore I decided to sew a lavender pillow from the same fabric. I added a French label because the beach theme wouldn’t have worked too well with the rose print.

That was it for today. I’ll be back next week with some tags I’ve made and a lovely package I have received. I wish you a wonderful rest of the week and a happy weekend!

Julia it is so lovely to see these gorgeous creations again on your blog.
It is so easy to create so beautifully when it is for the ones you love. Dorthe really loved receiving these from you and they are perfect - reflecting her life by the sea where she can so easily visit anyday of the week and collect gorgeous driftwood, stones and shells which can go into your altered tin.
It would be just wonderful if we could all meet up with our special blogging friends and until we do we can plan and dream!
Thinking of you whilst creating right at this moment.
Have a really great weekend my sweet friend.
Love and hugs to you Julia,
Suzy xxxx

Oh dear Julia you always put so much love and creative ideas and beautiful details in the treasures that you create for your friends, I'm sure Dorthe was simply overwhelmed when she opened your birthday parcel! Btw wasn't your own birthday sometime mid July? I'm not sure but I think it was so I send you very happy (belated?) birthday wishes!!!
Love your new banner btw and that there is a little peek of the wonderful secret garden parcel treasures in it, that you made for me :) Looks like you're on a roll creating so many wonderful keepsakes and I'm sure it's doing your soul good!
Talk again soon!
