Summer of Color Week 6

For this week’s Summer of Color challenge, Kristin chose two oranges and one blue. This combination just screamed rusty assemblage to me. I glued some vintage book pages onto a wooden board and painted them with diluted acrylic paints and water-soluble pencils. I sanded some areas down. After some stamping, I rummaged through my boxes of rusty smalls and constructed a pendulous object. The upper part is fixed from the back with a screw.

I named this assemblage “d-pending”.

This was the last week of the challenge. I did have a great time with Kristin’s weekly color prompts. Thank you so much, Kristin! I was a bit out of my comfort zone here and there but that is the point of a challenge. It is good to be pushed in another direction from time to time. I already miss the challenge and hope it will be back next year.

Here is a recap of my “SoC” projects. I am happy with all of them but my favorite is today’s assemblage. I am a rusty girl, what can I say :)?

Assemblage with collage can be a truly tough thing to get right. I really like the text and the shapes you've chosen. And rust is a real favorite. Unique and interesting!
I like this!

Definitely speaks of rusty elements.
I love your clever use of words for this assemblage and the addition of the rusty elements. Beautiful control of the colours for the base layer, allowing the writing/notations to peek through.

What a great challenge! I just landed here and think I'll have to go back and see what came before. I love this piece, but especially love the clever title. I'm impressed and inspired by the textures, the various elements and the colors. I will definitely be back for more.

Such wonderful creativity! I like all of your creations and the fact that many of them incorporate such different materials. I have a tendency to only think paint - lol. Have a great weekend and I hope to see you in next year's SOC.

Liebe Julia,
