Gray Love

Over the last year I’ve fallen quite a bit in love with the color gray. That doesn’t include those gray hairs, showing up on my head though, lol. I’m rather talking about furniture, wall color, fabrics etc. I like the soft shades as well as the darker ones and the brownish grays as much as those with a bluish undertone. The color has sneaked into my creations and our home decor here and there already. You might remember my recycled fabrics pumpkins or the chippy mirror that I had painted a medium gray.

I use diluted black silk dye to turn white  fabrics and laces into shades of gray. That works just great.

Gray Lace Heart

The lace heart front consists of five different eyelet laces and is embellished with gray beads and coffee dyed linen buttons.

 French Fabric Gift Bag

I like to combine gray with cream or beige. That softens the sometimes cool appearance of gray.

Lace Tag Paris

The pretty French labels on the gift bag and the tag were provided by The Graphics Fairy and printed out on fabric.

You’ll get to see more gray fabric creations from me this year but there will also be white ones as well as recycled or upcycled projects using found objects and lovely junk. Lots of ideas are spinning in my head :).

Have a wonderful weekend!

I’ll be joining these great parties:

Hugs,

Julia

I love the eyelet laces. Wonderful job. I have been searching for the right eyelet lace for a few months for a vintage patch bag I want to make but I still can not find the right one. One day I will. Until then I will continue to collect my vintage pieces for this bag.

Your creations are beautiful. I'm really loving soft shades of gray these days, and you're so right about combining it with cream or beige...a gorgeous combination.

Traude

Such pretty creations, Julia! I know what you mean about combining beige with grey...I think it keeps the grey from becoming too "cave-ish". Thanks for sharing. Sue

Hej Julia!
herzlichst
FrauHummel

Hello dear Julia

Your creations in all of these complementary colours of greys and creams with a dash of black I just love even with a deep brown they all work so well together.
Isn't it fun dyeing the laces to get just the right shade you are looking for and even a few drops can make such a difference.
Everything looks gorgeous!
Hope you are doing fine sweetie!
Love and hugs,
Suzy
